Safety Tips

ROOV.com strives to create an atmosphere where people are free to safely connect with members within their church as well as within their city around their shared experiences and passions. We have provided many safety and privacy controls on ROOV.com as a way for people to share information and connect in a safe environment. We are daily looking for ways to better provide better systems to identify and remove any content and people from the site which may be inappropriate.

ROOV.com is for individuals 16 years old and older. Anyone under the age of 16 is not permitted to access ROOV.com.

Although ROOV.com has specific safety and privacy controls, ROOV.com can not guarantee that its site is entirely free of illegal, offensive, pornographic, and otherwise inappropriate material, or that its members may not come across illegal or inappropriate conduct from other members. Should you encounter such content or conduct, you can help ROOV.com by notifying us of any activity or conduct such as nudity, pornography, harassment, or unwelcome content by any members by clicking on the Report Content tab located in the HELP section of the site. This is the site’s reporting tool where confidential complaints are reviewed, leave a detailed reason for you reporting any content and/or conduct and ROOV.com will make its best efforts to remove any inappropriate content or offending conduct and to warn or, as appropriate, ban or suspend from the site those involved in the transmitting of such content or engaged in conduct deemed inappropriate within 24 hours of receiving your complaint.

ROOV.com aspires for the users to report suspicious persons and inappropriate content they may encounter it. And we strongly encourage users under the age of 18 to talk to their parents or a responsible adult immediately if someone online says or does something to make them feel uncomfortable or threatened in any way.

Remember that although using fake names is a violation of the ROOV.com Terms of Use, people are not always who they say they are. You should always be careful when sending friend requests to, accepting friend requests, and attending gatherings from people you do not know in the real world.

Always remember to follow these tips when interacting on the site:

  • Never share your password with anyone
  • Customize your privacy settings to match your level of comfort, and review them often
  • Be cautious about posting and sharing personal information, especially information that could be used to identify you or locate you offline, such as your address or telephone number
  • Report any activity or content that violate our Terms of Use
  • Block and report anyone that sends you unwanted or inappropriate communication

Gathering Safety Tips

While it is important for people to be able to connect with like-minded people on the site, The “Gatherings” feature is all about creating action and relationships around ROOVs and Causes in real life. Just remember to use caution in attending gatherings, as it is always risky to meet anyone in person whom you don’t already know through real world friends.

A couple of safety tips to be mindful of when attending a gathering:

  • Try your best never to go alone to a gathering without a friend whom you already have a real world friendship who may want to connect around the same ROOV or Cause.
  • ALWAYS only attend a gathering in a populated, public place.
  • Check to see who has sent in their RSVP and will be attending the event and note if there are any suspicious people attending the gathering
  • Never give out or post any of your personal identifiable information until you are comfortable doing so.
  • Always tell a friend or a family member of the gathering which you are attending and when you expect to return. Also, have that person contact you at a predetermined time.
  • Do listen to your instincts. Never be afraid to ask questions about the details of the gathering.
